I was commissioned to create a mural on Arnold Street, in Derby’s Mackworth and New Zealand ward, celebrating the local area and its community.
The project involved engaging with residents through questionnaires, gathering their ideas, stories and suggestions to help inform the design. Local people were invited to share their thoughts, follow the creative process and get hands-on with painting the wall using a giant paint-by-numbers approach, encouraging community participation and a sense of ownership.
The mural celebrates the character of the neighbourhood, transforming a brick wall into a colourful, welcoming piece of public art for the community to enjoy.
