Happy Trails: Welcome to Lalaland is a three-wall interactive and playful exhibition created to celebrate Rail 200 through a vibrant, imaginative journey by rail.
The first wall showcases a lively Derby cityscape, highlighting everything that makes the city special, its architecture, culture, green spaces, real ale heritage, and even its quirky claim as the birthplace of the hotdog, capturing Derby as an inspiring place.
The central wall transports visitors into Lalaland, a colourful dream world representing the artist’s own hopes and ambitions, from publishing a children’s book to exploring Japan and travelling the UK in a pink VW camper van.
The final wall celebrates Matlock, home of the Level Centre, featuring much-loved local landmarks such as Matlock Bath, Haddon Hall, Masson Mill and the Heights of Abraham.
With projected animations and touch-activated sounds, the installation invites visitors to play, explore and immerse themselves in a journey of imagination and creativity.
